Francesco Passaniti – italian, born in 1952, lives in Paris.
Former stonemason, he forms his own construction company in 1976 during which he coordinates many striking projects in Paris, such as boutiques for Issey Miyake, Chevignon…
He becomes progressively more involved in interior design and sculpture.
A designer from the bottom up, unlike most in his profession, Passaniti’s creations start with his knowledge and love for the materials themselves ; his designs are in fact the manifestation of the material. Like an alchimist, Passaniti transforms the nature of his elements : a spiral staircase becomes a tree, a terrazzo cement slab becomes a rug, steel takes on the aspect of wood, concrete that of stone.
Simple materials of the construction site : steel, stone, concrete, wood ; common materials polished and refined to nobility by a designer moving fast forward within a centuries old tradition.
